Woe is me....

The saga continues on the appliances and I'm really getting fed up. I will NEVER buy from "Best" Buy again!

On the house, it's so depressing. I got home last night, the fridge was in the dining room, dishwasher and stove in the family room and piles of furniture were in the den/my scraproom and also dining room. There was a thick layer of white dust on everything. My new stainless fridge looked almost white!!

I couldn't get to the temporary microwave so we decided to go to Chili's for dinner. Yum, two beers and a full rack of ribs! I was in heaven.

I had the day from hell. In the morning, I was on the phone with BB on the appliances, and then took a 1/2 hr. to cut things on the Cricut. Left for the dentist and had a temp crown installed. Ouch. Ran to my son's school to pick him up and get him to the gum specialist. Dropped him off and ran to have my mammogram. That was the best part of my day if you can believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!

My son needs a root canal, then a crown and then gum surgery. They have to graft skin from the roof of his mouth and insert it above the front tooth that was knocked in. And I thought he was fine with not having to have the root canal and braces! NOT.

I took a bunch of photos of the floors and forgot to bring the card to work. They look really good with the cabinets in the kitchen. I was afraid of them clashing. So now I have to pick out paint really fast and I'm really bad at it!

Feast One Hundred & Thirty Two

Where on your body do you have a scar, and what caused it? Oh, I have a few. The first one is on my lip. I fell down when I was 18 mos. and got stitches in it. It's hard to see unless it's raining out. I have a scar on my back where I had a large pre-cancerous mole removed last year. I'm sure there are others like on my leg where I ironed my skirt and went a little too low! ooops!

Ok, reading through a few feasts, I realized I forgot several scars - one on my belly button from a laproscopic surgery, another on the bottom of my foot from neuroma surgery.

What is something that has happened to you that you would consider a miracle? Can't quite think of a miracle but I guess you could consider when I've found things after saying a prayer to St. Anthony?

Another I remembered - When I was little, I ran through a glass door. Don't ask me why I didn't stop to open it. Anyway, I broke through the glass and went down a small flight of stairs. All I got was a few scratches!!

Name a television personality who really gets on your nerves. Dr. Phil, oh, there are lots!! Rosie O'Donnell, Kathy Lee Gifford.

Main Course
What was a funny word you said as a child (such as "pasketti" for "spaghetti")? How bout pissywoollows for pussy willows? I used to pick them for my mom.

Fill in the blank: I have always thought gambling was useless or Las Vegas was tacky. I can't come up with anything else and I just had a conversation about this.

We got back from Maine this afternoon. It was a fun weekend but the snowmobiling wasn't as great as we thought. Some of the trails were windblown and bare. It was a little rough going up one steep, muddy hill and then back down again! I'm still sore! My back, arms & shoulders ache.

I had some nice bonding time with my son because our friend was missing for a while so my dh decided to go back to see what happened to him. He was going to catch up and meet us at this field. I have a brand new machine and needed to get some practice anyway. So my son and I went back and forth and I got some comfort with it. Anyway, we waited and waited and my son offered to go back to see where they were. They finally showed up. There was a thin patch of ice going across a little stream and it was scary but we all made it. Apparently he didn't. His sled got caught under the ice (just the ski) and he tried to pull it out & ended up in the water (very shallow). So my dh had to help him pull it out.

Then on the way back my dh said he'd get the machines across. So he did his, came back for mine, got the ski caught under the ice and my son had to help him pull it out. That was enough for me. They need to rebuild the bridge that was in that spot. Would you believe we had two cameras and didn't take one shot this weekend?!!

I didn't end up going Sat. because the guys found a new way and said there were several streets to cross and other sketchy areas so the girls decided to stay back.

So my friend and I went to Portland shopping at ACM & a shoe store. I got two pair of comfy shoes. They're not pretty but they're helping my horrible feet out.

So the guys got back before us. We ordered Chinese food, overate and fell asleep early! We decided to come home this morning instead of going for another ride.
I forgot to mention that we got a flat tire on the trailer on the way up. Not fun.
Back to the grind tomorrow.

More mess...

Ok, first I want to say thanks for the comments to the post below. I am hoping this temporary scrap space will only be for around 10 days. That being said, I'm counting on 20!

My saga continues on the appliances. I am NEVER buying from Best Buy again. They brought a new stove today. Got it swapped out and the new one is damaged. So now we have to be incovenienced again to be home for another delivery.

I yelled, yes yelled, to their service dept. about not hearing from the installer. She said the third installer has 24-48 hrs. to contact us. I said I'll be away tomorrow and what do I do when they don't contact me? Wait another 3 weeks? My delivery was on Jan. 20. It's OVER A MONTH!!!! I'm sorry, I just cannot take it any more. I hung up on her. I'm not usually one to have outbursts but how much can one person take?!'s a photo of what my family room looks like and a photo of the new wood floor in my sb room.

new space...

I couldn't get on earlier so I thought I'd post now. Here's a shot of my horrible temporary basement space. This is why I'm not scrapping, LOL! I stamped last night and had missed images on the big background stamps. My table is warped from being overloaded with supplies all this time!!

More woes...

Ok, so I decided to pack it all up last night and relocate to the basement. What a mess!! I wish I had a pedometer! I've been up and down and up and down.

Today we had the wood delivered so my dh and I had to bring it all in the house since it's about 8 outside. We have boxes of wood everywhere! I was shaky when we were finished.

I've been taking small items like plants, small tables, etc. and bringing them upstairs so up and down and up and down I go again!

I finally decided to take a break. I'm wiped.

The tile floor is now sealed and my dh said he'd temporarily put the washer/dryer back so that I can do some laundry. I have piles!!!!!!!!!

I'm waiting on my day off for the damn installer!!!!! Have not heard a word. We will also get a dumpster delivered this afternoon. So much for the stamping invite! I was supposed to go over a new friend's house (teaching asst. at univ.). Anyway, I thought I'd try to make some sense of the mess down here to see if I can possibly make a card or scrap.

Ok, it just gets better and better. I'm seriously keeping my fingers crossed for an installer on the microwave tomorrow. I still haven't heard back.

The technician came to check out the issue (not mentioned previously) with the oven door. Bottom line, I called Best Buy to say that it's not acceptable for them to give me a new door. I want a new stove altogether. So....they tried to set up delivery for a Sat. to accommodate us. This Sat. we will be away!! now it's Thurs. 2/22 and if they call the night before with an incovenient time, we'll say that we are available on Tues.

Good news is the toilet is back where it belongs. The washer and dryer are still in the kitchen until Mon. or Tues. and the laundry is piling up!!!!!!!!!!

I have such an exciting personal day planned on Tues., 2/27. Let me tell you about it. First I may have Best Buy, then an 11:50 dentist to have crown prep done (from cracking my tooth on a no nut brownie). Then I have to pick G up at school and take him to the gum specialist. Then I have to drop him back off and go to another town for a mammogram. Oh joy, can't wait! ;-)

My boys had a great time snowmobiling yesterday. They got some dad/son male bonding time in and it was good. I went shopping with my mom and then I made about 5 cards. One is for an upcoming swap so I'm trying to get it right!

I'm hoping to play again in my room this afternoon or tonight. I get the pleasure of packing it all up soon so they can install the hardwood floors. What am I going to do?!! I think I need a temporary bag so I can scrap/stamp while they are getting the floors done. Enough rambling for today!

Feast One Hundred & Thirty One

What sound, other than the normal ringing, would you like your telephone to make? Maybe some rainforest or ocean sounds?

Describe your usual disposition in meteorological terms (partly cloudy, sunny, stormy, etc.). I'm typically a sunny person but have occasional storms when I get aggravated!

What specific subject do you feel you know better than any other subjects? stamping. Just ask me about any stamp pads, stamps, papers, tools, you name it! (I's not something to be really proud of! :-))

Main Course
Imagine you were given the ability to remember everything you read for one entire day. Which books/magazines/newspapers would you choose to read? I'd probably pick a dictionary.

If a popular candy maker contacted you to create their next confection, what would it be like and what would you name it? Hmmmm...probably something with coconut, pecans and white chocolate with some caramel going through it. Maybe I'd call it White Tropics? I'm not very imaginative!! LOL

Snow day....

I'm so excited we had the whole day to play! Of course, I slacked off a lot, read magazines and chatted to my mom. I did some laundry since we will be out of commission for a few days (see below photos).

I finally sat down to play around 3 p.m. I did a two pg. lo and then made some cards. I have to make these little deals with myself - scrap first and then you can stamp!! Sad, huh?!! LOL

So anyway, this morning the guy is coming to do the tile in the downstairs bathroom/powder room. Isn't it funny how different areas of the country have different names for a bathroom? I remember in PA it was always the powder room. In MA it's just the half bath or bathroom. What do you call it?

So here's what my kitchen looks like this morning. We are tiling the bathroom and the mud area where the garage door opens into the kitchen & the laundry area. The rest will be wood.
p.s. Please note: the microwave is still sitting there to the left. We're calling our new look, Slum. LOL

Tuesday, February 13, 2007

Aaaah, just got off the phone with my coworker who is on maternity. She really is coming back on Tuesday!!! Yeah! I cannot wait. I'm taking Fri. off to go to Maine snowmobiling. We are finally getting some snow this week! They're supposed to get 18 inches at our friends' place in Maine. SNOW much fun! hehe

Still haven't heard from the installer on the microwave!!! And my floor is looking worse by the day. The guys called to say they want to come tomorrow to start the tile so my poor dh was scrambling last night to get the rest of the linoleum up! He's decided to pay them to do the kitchen floor and pull the carpets up so that they can install the hardwood floors. He's killing himself doing this! So i'm happy that he doesn't have to do it all. He has rhuematoid arthritis and shouldn't be doing all this.

My mom got home and had a nice time. Brought me a nice tote bag from Harrod's!

Back to the grindstone. More later...

Weekend update...

Well, my microwave is still on the floor. They say they'll call within 24 hrs. to schedule the installer. Apparently their main guy hurt his back.

You should see the condition my house is in. My dh ripped up the bathroom floor and is moving toward the kitchen. I don't know how long I'll have to wait for the floor guys to come. They're doing it at a low cost so this is why my dh is doing part of the work. Then we just have to wait until they have the time. I hope it's before the new year! haha

We went out to dinner on Fri. night. Then I stamped a little on Sat. night. I cleaned and did the food shopping on Sun. and then....are you ready......I scrapped!! My oldest came in midway through my page so I only got the 2 pg. lo done. I made myself scrap before I could look at another stamp.

The vacation is over. My mom is coming home tonight around dinner or later. I hope she had fun! I certainly enjoyed it!!

Oh my wittle boy is driving!!! I took my 17 yo. to get his learner's permit last night and he passed!! I thought for sure we'd be taking another trip to the DMV. He drove home and then drove his friend home (with me biting my nails, of course). He did a great job. He also drove to school this morning. So cute. I think he's really proud of himself for a change. He hasn't had interest because most of his friends are 18 and drive him around. He finally realized he didn't want his 17th bday to come up before he got the permit (next Thurs. is his bday). I told him we needed to work on a job next.

My hubby got home from the sleep test at 6:30 this morning and was exhausted. He said it was hard to sleep with all that stuff on! I'm sure they'll say he has sleep apnea. I've been telling him for months now. It'll take a month to read the report!! Why so long? Maybe they're backed up since everyone seems to have it lately.

This is the last free weekend before my mom returns. I better enjoy it!! It's been so nice to be able to talk freely and not worry about what we're saying. I do hope she had a fun time in England!

Appetizer - Have you been sick yet this winter? If so, what did you come down with?

I'm soooo afraid to answer this one. I may jinx myself so I'm pleading the fifth.

Salad - How would you describe your personal "comfort zone"? Sitting in my room stamping or scrapping, or reading on the couch while my dh watches tv.

Main Course - On which reality show would you really like to be a contestant? I'm not into reality shows at all. I guess I'd have to say some kind of makeover?

Dessert - Which holiday would you consider to be your favorite? Thanksgiving

Just random stuff...

I've been too busy at work to post (still am but taking a break!!). Haven't done a thing lately in my sb room. I got as far as pulling out a SU catalog last night, got so tired I gave up and sat on the couch around 7:30. I fell asleep after a few minutes! I kept dozing on and off until I had to go out and pick my son up. Brrr...talking about waking me up!

So I came back, tried to look through and zonked again. I went to bed at 10:10! I never do this. Maybe I'm fighting something?

My dh is going for a sleep study tonight so maybe I'll have a good night's rest?

Back to the grindstone, I guess!!

Best laid plans....

I thought I'd have the whole weekend to play. yesterday I waited around for my almost 17 yo's friends to call. He wanted to go snowboarding at the ski area across town. So they couldn't come all the way over to get him but one kid was picking the other up but was "working on his computer". So I offered to pick the other kid up and they could snowboard while waiting for the one who drives. The kid said he'd call G back. He didn't. So they finally called and said to meet them there. I drove him over and dropped him off. They told him they were on the way.

Two hours go by and he called. They never showed up!!! I was so angry at them for being so mean. He wasted his gift card on a ticket for two hours!! I went to pick him up and then got back and my hubby was home from snowmobiling. Can I say, Mean Kids S~ck!!! I just feel so bad for him.

So I made a bunch of apps & brownies and sat with my dh after trying to load his pictures from the new camera. No scrapping, no stamping.

Today I have to leave @ 1:30 to take my ds to the dentist. And then to get his learner's permit. Maybe some spare time before dinner?!!

Ugh...not again!!!

I hate to say it again but Murphy's Law has taken up residence in my house! Got a couple of inches of snow last night so I got up really early (7:45) so that I could shovel and shower before the installer came. HA! He came at 3:00. It was supposed to be between 9 and 1:00.

The dishwasher is in but he opened the microwave and it was seriously damaged. I'm so angry! I'm trying not to let it bother me but now they have to ship another on Thursday and then the installer has to come.

At least my counter is cleaning product free!! The other counter still has the old microwave on it and the big microwave box & old one are in the corner.

Oh well....I suppose it could be worse!

On the crafting side, I made a bunch of cards last night because someone at work let me borrow a few sets. I feel like I have to return them on Monday so I made as much as I could.

Then my sweetheart of a son came to help shovel and made his gf a valentine while here. I also gave him a bunch of schlock again!! One of these days he's going to need a spare room and mine will be empty! ROFL. Back to the cards. Maybe I'll scrap tomorrow.

Friday, February 02, 2007 Feast One Hundred & Twenty Nine

What was one of the fashion fads when you were a teenager? Actually what was really in last year is what was in when I was in high school (peasant tops, low rise bell bottoms, hippie-ish clothes).

Name one thing you think people assume about you when they first meet you. Not sure - I guess that I'm serious, snobby or quiet? I'm not on all accounts! It just takes me a little bit to feel comfortable.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how hard do you work? Well normally a 9 but when there's no one around here probably a 1 (like right now as you can see

Main Course
If you were given a free 30-second commercial during the Super Bowl to sell anything you currently own, what would you advertise? You mean to get rid of it? Probably my sizzix stuff! Or my snowmobile pants my husband spent a fortune on when I was much fatter and couldn't fit into my regular ones! I wore them once!

Fill in the blank: I love to read when it is raining out.

Did I say Life is Good?!!!

Ok, so I'm at work visiting with my coworker whose on maternity. Her baby is precious!! Got to hold her for a while. Anyway, some evil person brought homemade brownies in. So I took one and started to nibble on it. Delish!! Then I bit into something hard. I thought it was strange because there weren't any nuts. Not to be gross, but i took it out of my mouth and put it in a tissue. It was a huge chunk of my tooth!!!

So...went to the dentist and I need a crown. It's too big to fill. Ugh.....$1,200 later... oh well. I think I'll have to pay $400 or so after duel insurance payments.

Murphy's law at it again.

Ah, life is good. I went to a SU workshop at someone's house last night and met some really nice ladies. We made FOUR cards and they gave us a goody bag with the makings of another card! It was very nice. I ended up getting the big flower for my free sale-a-bration stamp. I wonder if you can do this twice? I need to place an other order toward the end of the month with my consultant to get ready for stamp camp.

Today feels weird. My mom is leaving for Ireland today, my husband is leaving for Maine this afternoon. So it'll just be me and my 17 yo. ds this weekend. I'm trying to get the "girls" together for stamping and/or scrapping. If not, I'll go it alone!! I don't mind that at all.

And my appliances will be installed between 9 and 1:00 on Sat. YIPPEEEEEE! I will be able to see my countertops once again!!

Getting my hair cut and highlighted tonight. Another yippee! It's been driving me nuts. Right around the fourth week it gets pretty bad. I get mine highlighted every 8 weeks. How often do you go for a haircut? Do you schedule in advance or just wing it? I schedule mine at the end of every appointment.
